Sources

We use primary sources only: exchange prices as published by the power exchange and ENTSO-E, transfer fees from each network operator’s own price list, electricity tax and VAT from the Finnish Tax Administration and the Electricity Tax Act, postcode-to-operator data and contract comparisons from the Energy Authority, and consumption and price statistics from Statistics Finland. A blog, a comparison site or an energy company’s campaign page is never a source. Every value sits in the data file with its source and date (15 October 2026).

What we do not publish

A value we have not read in an official source is not published. When the day’s exchange prices are unavailable we do not guess them: we show an average-price estimate, clearly marked as such, with its method and period. We rank no retailers and take no money to mention anyone.

Checks

The calculation engine is tested automatically on every update against hand-computed cases. Transfer fees are checked by a script that downloads each operator’s price list and confirms that every price used by the calculator appears in it. Taxes are reviewed whenever the tax table changes.

Corrections

Errors are fixed as soon as confirmed and the page date changes. Write to contact@oikeasahkonhinta.fi. More on the method page and about us.
