KSS Verkko’s network service fees

KSS Verkko’s time-of-day and seasonal transfer share a single basic-fee table and the same lowest transfer rate. Even the day-time rate on time-of-day transfer (3.32 c/kWh) is below general transfer’s 4.09 c/kWh, so almost all of the product’s cost sits in the basic fee. The price list also has a smallest 1 × 16 A general product for sites with a maximum permitted power of 500 watts.

In a flat and at low consumption general transfer stays cheapest, because time-of-day and seasonal transfer have no flat-rate basic fee in the price list. In a 3 × 25 A house their basic fee, €220 a year higher, only pays off when consumption is large and falls in the cheap period, as with storage electric heating.

Summer time, spot electricity and timers

The cheapest spot quarters often fall at night, but on KSS Verkko’s time-of-day transfer the night rate in summer starts only at 23:00 and ends at 08:00. The calculator’s chart shows the transfer step at the right moment, and tomorrow’s prices show which night quarter suits charging an electric car. Elsewhere in Kymenlaakso, for example in Kotka and Hamina, the operator is Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko, and to the west, in the city of Lahti, Lahti Energia; the postcode search tells you whose network your address is on. Other networks are in the transfer price comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Why does KSS Verkko’s night transfer start at 23:00 in summer?

According to the price list, the day period is 07:00–22:00 and the night period 22:00–07:00, and the switch to summer time is not applied. The periods are tied to standard time. Once the clocks go forward in spring, the day period runs 08:00–23:00 local time and the 1.49 c/kWh night rate starts only at 23:00. In summer, move a car-charging or water-heater timer an hour later.

Time-of-day or seasonal transfer: which suits KSS Verkko customers?

Both have the same basic fee, €31.70 on 3 × 25 A and €49.90 on 3 × 35 A a month, and the same lowest rate of 1.49 c/kWh. The difference is the expensive period: day-time transfer costs 3.32 c/kWh all year, the seasonal winter weekday 4.97 c/kWh only from November to March. By our calculation time-of-day transfer beats general transfer from about 15,100 and seasonal from about 12,900 kilowatt-hours of winter-heavy use.

How often can I change my KSS Verkko transfer product?

Under the price list a product change is allowed after 12 months of continuous use. If you move from general to time-of-day or seasonal transfer, the new product therefore stays for at least a year, covering one heating season and one summer. That is why the choice is best judged on a full year’s consumption rather than one expensive winter month. The annual cost table on this page compares the products for three typical users.

Does KSS Verkko charge a power fee for a house?

No. KSS Verkko’s household network fees consist only of a transfer fee and a fuse-based basic fee across three products. The company’s site lists power-based metering among its methods, but it is not part of this price list. Lowering your peak therefore does not cut the bill, while on time-of-day or seasonal transfer shifting use to the cheaper period does. Electricity tax and the security-of-supply fee, 2.9179 c/kWh together, come on top.
